Thompson Square’s Keifer Thompson Shares Recovery News

Good news for fans of Thompson Square. The reigning ACM Vocal Duo of the Year could soon be allowed to return to the stage after canceling a series of shows in the past, while Keifer Thompson deals with vocal problems.

"I had a very bad bleeding, and is fully healed and resolved the polyp is about 70 percent less, so I do not want to do surgery now," says the singer Country Weekly.

The duo of husband and wife Keifer and Shawna singers Thompson has scored several hit singles since their debut in 2011, including "Are you gonna kiss me or not" and "Crystal". His latest single, 'If I had you,' reached No. 1 on the Country Airplay May 2013, and released a new single, 'All that you should not be thinking,' in June. They were on the road with Luke Bryan when Keifer began experiencing vocal problems, forcing the duo to cancel several shows.

Keifer announced their struggles in an emotional post to the website of Thompson Square on May 29, writing, "I was urged by doctors to cancel appearances Thompson Square and follow complete vocal rest for several weeks, but not Shawna nor do I want to disappoint our fans, we love and deeply respect.”

They ended up canceling a later date while continuing to heal. The singer says he approached others who have experienced vocal problems for advice and tranquility, including Keith Urban, Gary Allan and Larry Gatlin. "[They] talked me off a ledge and I said okay," he says.

Thompson Square To Perform At Toby Keith’s Bar In Rancho Cucamonga

Thompson Square is scheduled to perform at Toby Keith I Love This Bar & Grill in Rancho Cucamonga (Photo: Anthony Baker).

Keifer Thompson, husband and wife country music duo Thompson Square, said he judges the quality of their music so their fans think of it - not critical.

"Many of the critics have never done the work they are criticizing," he said in a recent interview. "It's a contradiction to me. I think there have been some good music only destroyed by critics and wonder," What have you done? Who made you God "But they can say what they want to say about us? I do not care. Gotta have a thick skin. My critics are the fans."

Stagecoach Country Music Festival veterans Keifer and Shawna Thompson are scheduled to perform as Thompson Square Toby Keith home I Love This Bar & Grill in Rancho Cucamonga at 8 pm Aug. 14 in a ceremony presented by the country radio station K FROG.

Thompson said that while Toby Keith's place is much smaller than the Empire Polo Grounds in Indio where they performed for the Stagecoach festival, the group's focus remains unchanged.

"I do not think a larger crowd is better," Thompson said. "Prefer long as they know the music of Thompson Square, which is what matters. I do not care if it's 50 people or 50,000 people. Playing for 50 or 60 people to 20,000 people who do not know who the hell you are."

The couple is known for country hits such as "Are You Gonna Kiss Me or You" and 2012 "If I had you." 2010

Thompson Square is touring off his latest album "just feels good" and is working on new material.

"We are literally writing songs now," Thompson said.

By choosing to release singles to radio, Thompson said the group "go with our gut" and usually the fans are on board with their choices.

"But we never know what song will knock out of the park," he said.

His latest single, "You cannot escape yourself" has a special meaning for Thompson because the song is about a breakup that relates especially to her. Thompson said he was dating someone for a long time before they separated and he moved away from Oklahoma.

"Being there was not good," Thompson said. "Then I met Shawna."

Opening for the group is 23 years old, Katie Armiger, whose latest album "Fall into me", released in January 2013 reached number 7 on the Billboard Album of the major countries.

he said.

The other half of the duo singing is his wife, Shawna.

Thompson Square Regain Their Voice On Luke Bryan's Tour

Duo Returns Keifer Thompson forced Vocal Rest

In May, husband and wife duo Thompson Square were among Luke Bryan Dirt Road Diaries tour when a road suddenly appeared. Keifer had flown his voice and ordered to go on complete vocal rest.

Reluctantly, the "If I do not have" singer issued a sincere apology and canceled two weeks of shows.

"Words cannot express how devastated we both are to bring this news to our fans," Keifer wrote at the time.

Now they are back on the road with tourmates Bryan and Florida Georgia Line, Hot 20 Countdown CMT Katie Cook met with the team to check the progress of Keifer. I also got the lowdown on how Shawna handles being the only girl in the group and what it feels like to “cruise” and “collision parts “with two of the country's most popular artists.

How is the atmosphere here in Luke Bryan tour?

Shawna: It's fun. It is exactly what you see. Lucas is crazy and you never know what to expect.

Keifer: We will have a blast. It is an incredible journey and it is our first tour as main act , so we have to stretch a little and exercise to sweat larger.

Shawna, were the envy of women here in the U.S. a couple of weeks because her husband was resting vocal ago - no offense. It’s all back to normal?

Keifer : I thought you were going to say because he was married to me . But let's go with that.

But the handsome quiet side, which would not take that for a few weeks? Now everything is back to 100 percent?

Keifer: You know, I did not know the extent of the damage. I've been abusing my voice I guess for years. You were like, "You're going to have to have surgery. One has a hemorrhage. Going have a polyp. “I’m just like, "I lost a little bit of my voice,” you know? I was like, “What’s going on.” Was hoarse. And they said, "Let's find a way to make it less invasive.” So, two weeks off.

Shawna: Two weeks and lots and lots of prayers of our fans.

Keifer: We went back and he was like I sang that week, I went back and says " The bleeding is gone. “: . “Everything is almost completely gone “He was like, “what have you done?’I was like, “Man, I said nothing. All I was doing was praying. “My voice is a point I have not been able to do what I'm doing for a year and a half, almost two years.

Wow, so you’re very, very happy. I know their fans are happy. So Lucas has another guest here , Florida Georgia Line . Any duo rivalry?

Shawna: No, not at all.

Keifer: There is always going to be the duo rivalry. But personally, no. Everybody takes place here and it's just a little big happy family here.

Well, you have a big fan of Sheryl Crow. I do not know if you've seen this tweet recently. I will read to you. "Happy to be home from the road, the coffee in the kitchen, children play on the floor, ' If I do not have ' on the radio. Ahhhhh.... "

Shawna: We were very excited to see that and we played a show with Sheryl. We threw a guitar with her, and she was kind of a special guest. When he came out, the first thing I did was sit down with your guitar and sing a bit of "Are You gonna kiss me or not.” Keifer and I are big fans of it, so it meant a lot to us.

Keifer: And she looked over and winked at us a little eye and I was like, “Sheryl Crow just sing my song!” Now she's tweeting about another I wrote, that's awesome. Having respect for someone like that is fine.

Shawna, you're like the only girl here on this tour. What about that?

Shawna: I know, it's so weird. It really is. You know, we were out with Lady Antebellum last year, so at least I had Hillary [Scott ] . We would get nails done occasionally and so on . But yes, it is very rare to be the only girl.

Keifer: A lot of testosterone to deal with.

Would you are keeping everything in line?

Shawna: I do not know. I have a lot of problems with this. I do not know if I could keep that many kids online.

Keifer: Now that I can talk again, I'm like "I'm back baby!” And she's like “Oh God, I liked you when you were silent.” She does well, though. She's a tomboy so he is accustomed.

Thompson Square Shares “10 Year Overnight Success” Story In Origins: Thompson Square

Thompson Square photo by Joseph Anthony Baker, courtesy of Media Dashboard.

Every husband and wife duo Thompson Square need is love - and the hard work and perseverance. Shawna and Keifer Thompson will share the story behind their "success 10 years overnight," Sources: Thompson Square, which Thursday, November 21 premieres at, 8/7c on Great American Country. The special will include interviews with parents and colleagues, as well as acoustic performances of some of his biggest hits.

At the beginning of their relationship that developed a routine to perform and bartending on the Lower Broadway in downtown Nashville. "We spend 90 % of our ' directions ' time at Legends bar," Keifer said. Sixty to 70 hours per week were normal for the pair. Each had solo record deals fell through and when they were first offered a deal as a duo, which proved to be a false alarm.

"I do not think I ever would be the man to fall into something, it was really a bad time for us," Keifer said. The couple decided to give it one more year. Continued to serve and play whenever possible and agreed to make a final showcase.

There was no guest list, because I thought that if everyone pays to enter, they at least have money to eat that night. That last showcase resulted in record deal with Stoney Creek Records.

Being married to each other and their work suits the couple very well. "We do not function very well if we are not together all the time,” Keifer said. "That does not mean we do not fight like cats and dogs," Shawna said. "We have the same problems as other married couples.”

Being a couple and a duo that travels the country to perform for the fans have a problem, however. “The strange thing is that when you get into a fight in a tour bus that you cannot slam the door," said Keifer. “Because these doors have air compression you have, liked, 45 seconds to close.”
