Good news for fans of Thompson Square. The reigning ACM Vocal Duo of the Year could soon be allowed to return to the stage after canceling a series of shows in the past, while Keifer Thompson deals with vocal problems.
"I had a very bad bleeding, and is fully healed and resolved the polyp is about 70 percent less, so I do not want to do surgery now," says the singer Country Weekly.
The duo of husband and wife Keifer and Shawna singers Thompson has scored several hit singles since their debut in 2011, including "Are you gonna kiss me or not" and "Crystal". His latest single, 'If I had you,' reached No. 1 on the Country Airplay May 2013, and released a new single, 'All that you should not be thinking,' in June. They were on the road with Luke Bryan when Keifer began experiencing vocal problems, forcing the duo to cancel several shows.
Keifer announced their struggles in an emotional post to the website of Thompson Square on May 29, writing, "I was urged by doctors to cancel appearances Thompson Square and follow complete vocal rest for several weeks, but not Shawna nor do I want to disappoint our fans, we love and deeply respect.”
They ended up canceling a later date while continuing to heal. The singer says he approached others who have experienced vocal problems for advice and tranquility, including Keith Urban, Gary Allan and Larry Gatlin. "[They] talked me off a ledge and I said okay," he says.
Keifer also has been working with physicians and singing teachers in learning new singing techniques to avoid future complications.
Programming Thompson Square tour lists their upcoming show on June 21 at the Butler County Fairgrounds in Allison, Iowa. So far there has been no announcement of a cancellation.
